Orange Day

Maggie's class focuses on a color or two each month and for the month of October it was orange. So a couple of weeks ago, the kids could wear orange and Mags loved her orange Halloween shirt - although she wasn't very cooperative getting her picture taken. And she's doing better at recognizing her colors...thanks Miss Connie and Miss Barb!:)

Star Student

Kate was chosen as the Star Student last week at school. Basically this means that she got to do "homework" and fill out an All About Me poster, fill Mrs. Knight's Brag Bag with 5 items, and be the line leader all week.

Her poster questions and answers: favorite place - Disney World (definitely my daughter!), what she wants to be when she grows up - a princess, what she likes best - rice and beans (again, my daughter!) and playing ball, and one wish - cherry ice cream with a cherry on top and she had to draw a picture of herself and a picture of her family.

Her Brag Bag items: Taffy - the blue bear that she sleeps with, a picture of Chuck and Lucy, a picture of her swimming, her photo album from her trip to Disney World, and her favorite movie, Strawberry Shortcake Princess.

She has passed the torch onto the next student but enjoyed her Star Student week.

Tulsa State Fair

I'm not going to pretend that our fair is anywhere near the greatness of the State Fair of Texas, but it's what we've got and we make the best of it!:) We took the girls last Saturday right at opening and it was perfect. The weather was still on the cooler side and the rides were just starting to run so we didn't have a big crowd. The girls loved riding any and all rides, including Maggie who was brave and rode all the big rides with Kate. The only bummer was that the ferris wheel wasn't working so we had to miss it this year. And the lunch of choice: Kate chose chicken fingers, fries, a Sprite, and cotton candy so that's of course what Maggie chose too. I had stadium nachos with fake cheese and lots of jalapenos and ice cream and Ryan had a corn dog and then loved the look of my nachos so much that he got his own and ice cream for him too. Regardless of the location of what fair we attend, the junk food is always in full supply and a favorite!

Dancing Queens

Both girls had their Fall Dance Performances in their classes. Kate was really excited because her class got to wear pjs and dance to a song that goes with a favorite book of ours, "Pajama Time." It was a cute, fast paced dance and sometimes the girls had a hard time keeping up. I was hoping it would be tap, but I guess the tapping hasn't yet been perfected so maybe we'll get a tap dance for the Winter Performance.

Maggie's performance was a bit different in that it is exactly what we do every week just with dads and grandparents there to watch. Maggie usually is one of the best participators, but she must have been a bit shy with the crowd because it took awhile for her to warm up and dance and sing. Ryan could definitely tell her favorites though: the song where she bounces on my legs and playing with the parachute.

Most importantly, there was a cookie party at the end of each performance and that might have been the favorite...for sure for Mags!:)
