Taste of Summer

Yesterday we went to the Blue Bell Creamery in Broken Arrow for their annual "Taste of Summer." What that means is that you pay $4/adult, the girls were free, and you get to eat all the ice cream, fudgesicles, popsicles, and anything else that Blue Bell makes for free, well actually for $8!:)

It was super, duper hot so we only braved it for about 45 minutes but Kate and Maggie seemed to get their fill on their cold, tasty treats. Kate loved that she was eating ice cream for lunch!

Round 1: drumstick

Round 2: Krunch bar

Round 3: Cotton Candy ice cream

Round 4: Rainbow popsicle

Round 1: Rocky Road ice cream

Round 2: Rainbow popsicle

10 months old!

2 months until Maggie's turns 1...wow! Mags had a sort of busy month and so far seems to be enjoying her summer.

Some fun things and "firsts" for the month:

  • Maggie was baptized on May 31st

  • she is a fish and loves her float that she relaxes in at the pool

  • we enjoyed a trip to the zoo (a first for Maggie)

  • Maggie celebrated her 10 month birthday by enjoying some ice cream at Blue Bell's, "Taste of Summer"

  • she is eating more "real" food versus baby food - she hasn't found anything that she doesn't like yet!

  • Maggie is beginning to vocalize her likes and dislikes, well mostly dislikes

  • we're starting to hear more and more babbling from her, more like jabbering...she's telling us something in her own language
Some things that have yet to happen in Maggie's life:
  • she still is not crawling but seems to be leaning in that direction, literally

  • Maggie has not cut any more teeth, but her drooling is making me think there are some in her future

Every month I say it and I'll say it again...Maggie is a sweet, easy baby! She is happy to do anything and go anywhere and only fusses when Kate takes something from her that she wants or she sees her food and we're not getting it to her quickly enough! We are truly blessed to have Maggie in our family!

The monthly comparison shots: Maggie is the top picture and Kate is the bottom. (Please ignore Maggie's Don King hair...she was having a bad hair day!)

Splash bash!

Kate and Caroline had their birthday pool party yesterday and it was a super great party! I will have to say, though, that it wasn't looking too good yesterday morning when a huge storm rolled through Tulsa from 10-12 and kept the temperature in the 60s. Becky and I were a bit frantic until Ryan saved the day by calling a hotel with an indoor pool thus giving us a back-up plan. Luckily, at 3:00 (party time), the weather cleared up and the temperature steadily rose into the 80s and the day ended up being absolutely perfect, almost a little on the hot side.
The party favors - sand pails with toys inside
Really cute and really yummy swimsuit cupcakes
(The swimsuits matched the invitations)

Since the weather was a little touch and go, we had the entire pool to ourselves and the kiddos had a ball. They splashed and played and argued over toys and wore themselves out! It ended up being an awesome party!

Having fun playing in the pool

Warming up after lots of swimming

Kate's big weekend

Kate had 2 big events this weekend...her first time as a flower girl in a wedding and her 3rd birthday! She was one busy girl but she had a blast.

Kate was asked by our cousin, Kylie, to be a flower girl in her wedding to our new cousin, Will. Kate did a great job at the rehearsal and the wedding and I'm quite certain that for a minute she thought it was her wedding! She loved getting her hair and "make-up" done and looked precious!

Getting her "lips" on

All dressed and ready to go!

I love this picture of Kate and daddy!

Kate turned 3 yesterday complete with a princess party. I wish that we had stock in Disney Princesses because we would have it made. That girl got everything "princess" that she could have, and probably did, ask for! Princess plates, napkins, balloons, banner, cake, toys, bike, costumes and on and on. Her favorite gifts today are her bride costume, her bounce house, and her Princess drum. Getting her to take a nap was interesting!:) What a lucky little girl Kate Butler is!

Loving her new bounce house

So proud of her princess cake
She loves her bride costume, complete
with the flowers from Kylie's wedding

Caroline stopped by to celebrate and the best friends
just had to put on their princess costumes!

Ryan and I are excited that it's going to slow down for now. Our two big summer events knocked out in one weekend, except for sweet Maggie's birthday in August.

Happy birthday Kate!

My sweet baby girl is 3 today! I cannot believe that it has been 3 years since we were blessed with Kate. She is such a fun, energetic, compassionate, kind, loving, strong-willed, silly little girl and is growing up entirely way too fast! Happy birthday Tater-Pie...we love you so, so much!!!
