Meet Maggie!

Margaret Brooke Butler (Maggie) came into this world on Wednesday, August 27 at 3:19 pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 3/4 in. long. My labor and delivery went well and I'm feeling good, considering that I just had a baby!

Maggie is doing wonderfully! She is such a calm, sweet, quiet baby. Kate was also a very sweet and good baby, but busy from the beginning, whereas Maggie is super content. This is a blessing because Kate is keeping us busy still.

Kate is a great big sister. She loves Maggie, sometimes too hard, but loves her nonetheless. I think that as each day passes, the "newness" of Maggie will wear off and Kate will settle into some sort of routine with her little sister. We are loving every minute of having two sweet little girls!
And for those of you who care, Lucy and Chuck are also adjusting to the newest member of our family. They are very curious and like to sniff her out and get in an occasional lick!

Kate loves to swim!

Kate is a fish in the water! We went through a really hot spell in Tulsa with temperatures in the hundreds so we spent alot of time in the pool and Kate is getting really good at swimming with her floaties on.

We went swimming this weekend for a bit and tried to get some video, but the water was a touch cold and she was a reluctant swimmer. However, there's enough footage to see her in action. (I need to teach her that Michael Phelps doesn't care if the water is cold or not!)

Kate Counts to Ten and Attempts ABCs

Ryan posted this because he thought it was cute. Kate is great at counting to 10, however, when you ask her to say her ABCs, she just sings the end, "Now I've said my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me?" It's rare that we can get the entire song out of her!

Gymnastics

Kate has started gymnastics with her friends Caroline, Luke, Ethan, Laiken and Noah. She gets sad when I hand her over to Miss Michelle, but gets over the sadness quickly due to a giraffe bounce-house. The parents watch the kids on a t.v. in the waiting area. This actually works out great because I get to "watch" Kate, but I also get to visit with my friends without having to "watch" Kate!

Let me just say that I cannot imagine teaching toddlers. They are all over the place and I find it a miracle that Miss Michelle is able to teach any kind of lesson, but she does and it's so cute. Kate has learned her first trick...a somersault. (I'll get it on video and post it soon) She's quite good at them and practices daily in her room. She also loves when Miss Michelle gets out the sticks and they bang them together, I'm assuming to some music but I can't hear what's going on. I'm just waiting for the day that Kate takes a notion to bang one of her friends upside the head, which would definitely fit Kate's personality! For now though, she loves it and loves playing with her friends, and she and Caroline even have matching leotards! Could life get any better?!

8 days and counting!

I just had my last doctor's appointment this morning and I am set to be induced next Wednesday, August 27 (Uncle Kyle's birthday) at 5:00am. Dr. Oglesbee told me that I could go before that on my own and to have a back-up plan, however, I told her that wasn't part of my plan and that I would see her next Wednesday!

In the meantime, we've been getting the infant stuff back out, washed, and put together and Kate is in love with all of it! She has been putting it to good use, either herself or with her baby dolls. There may be a fight over the infant seat next week! And note the paci, which Kate NEVER even took (she's a thumb sucker) - she's obsessed with it. Having a baby sister ought to be interesting!

My first time

I never thought I'd be this person...a blogger! But after reading many of my friends' blogs, I knew it was a great way for our family to stay somewhat connected to our day-to-day life. So, if you would like to read this blog on a regular basis, providing that I remember to blog on a regular basis, add it to your list of favorites.

I hope to keep you updated on the funny, not so funny, and everyday life stories of me, Ryan, Kate, and very soon, baby Maggie. So, check back occasionally for pictures, stories, and videos (if I can figure that out).

Hope you enjoy!
