Popsicles and Minnie Mouse

Thursday was the official celebration day for Maggie's birthday. We had a Popsicle party at the 41st Street Park on Thursday morning for Maggie to celebrate with her friends. It was a perfect morning...temperatures in the high 70s, no crowd...just friends, popsicles, cupcakes and the splash pad. The Summer Song ice cream truck was the hit of the party. The kids loved that he came just for them and that they could order whatever they wanted. It seemed that the bomb pops were the popular item.

Ready for cupcakes!

That evening we had a family celebration for Mags at our house with pizza and Minnie Mouse cupcakes. Nanny and Bumps got her a great Strider bicycle, Glammy and Papaw got her some fun toys, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy stuffed animals, and Mimi and PopPop got her a few things and a card that sings the theme song from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and that was a hit. Between carrying around her stuffed animals and her card, her hands were full. Every car ride has now included bringing all of that with us!

The Strider doesn't have pedals
so she pushes with her feet and
works on keeping her balance:)

Yea for Mickey and Minnie!

Her real birthday was spent at school but she came home with a birthday crown so I know they celebrated her there too. We didn't do much last night except eat at Senor Tequila where Maggie is known to scrape the bowl of queso clean. She had a couple of presents to open from mommy, daddy, and Kate and then the celebrating was over. I think Mags had a great 2nd birthday. It was fun, busy, and full of good friends, family, food, and presents. Happy birthday Maggie!!

2 Years Old!

This cute as can be girl is 2 today! In fact, I just glanced at the time and she would have been about 1 1/2 hours old at this time. How 2 years have come and gone so quickly is beyond me!

Maggie - You are a bright spot in our family. You have the funniest, quirkiest personality...like your daddy! You are not afraid to throw a fit to get your way but you take your consequences like a big girl. You love, love, love anything Mickey or Minnie related and were so happy to get lots of Mouse presents for your birthday. Kate is your best buddy but a close second and third are Caroline and Clark. That said, you and Kate definitely get into squabbles and alot of times you're the instigator. You love to take stuff from her and then run from her with a smile on your face...it makes her crazy! What a blessing you are to all of us. We love you Mag-pie...hope you have a wonderful year!!

Another 1st Day of School

Maggie had her first day of school yesterday. She is in the Older 2s class this year with Miss Connie and Miss Barbara or "Miss Coti" and "Miss Barb" as Maggie says. She was excited to go but right as I was handing her over the door, she started the tears but I think they lasted about 10 minutes. Our babysitters, Heather and Kara, checked on her a couple of times during the day and she was having a ball. That said, I did ask Miss Connie and Miss Barbara how her day was and this is the story I got: She took a toy from her friend, Clark, while Miss Connie watched the whole thing play out. Miss Connie walked over to her to tell her that we don't take toys from friends and she needed to give it back to Clark. In Maggie fashion, she gave it back but immediately followed it with crossed arms and a "humph" and proceeded to place herself in the corner. They said that each time they made eye contact with her, she switched to a different corner and they think she made it to all four corners of the room! They were laughing as they told me this story so that's a good thing. They remember this attitude of hers from the days of Kate being in their class!:) Connie and Barbara are awesome teachers and I know she'll have a great year.

It's nice to have both girls back in school and we're slowly getting back into a routine. We're looking forward to a super year for both Kate and Mags!

1st Day of School

Kate started school today at her new school and she was excited to go. She has to be there at 8:15 so I had to wake her up but we'll get adjusted to an earlier schedule. I took her into her room and left her with a smile on her face so I'm sure I'll hear good things when I pick her up. Next up...Maggie starting school next Wednesday!

Yea...Pre-K
Such a big girl!
Excited to be in her classroom
and meet new friends

Weekend Fun

This was our last weekend together as a family before school starts (I'm going out of town this weekend and Ryan is gone the next weekend), so we did a couple of fun activities together.

Friday night we went to the Tulsa Drillers game and sat on the lawn. It was fun and the girls had a great time as long as they were eating. Otherwise they wanted to go play on the playground in the ballpark which was completely overcrowded and hot, hot, hot! Needless to say we lasted about 1 1/2 hours at the game but it was still fun.

After naps on Saturday we took both girls to see Toy Story 3. This was Maggie's first movie theater experience but we figured that since she was free, if it didn't work out one of us would take her out. Well it did work out and both girls sat through the whole movie and loved it. It helped that we pumped them full of popcorn and candy but whatever works, right?!

Now we need to start getting back on a normal schedule. This going to bed at 9:00 and sleeping until 9:00 is great, but considering Kate's school starts at 8:15, we have some body clock adjusting to do these next couple of weeks!

Lazy week at Mimi and PopPop's

We just got home last night from a 5 day stay at Mimi and PopPop's. The main reason that we visited is because Aunt Jan and Uncle Don and their whole family, minus Maggie McIlhenny, came out on Sunday to swim and eat burgers. It has been forever since we've seen all of them and it was fun to all be able to play together for the afternoon. After Sunday, we spent everyday in the swimming pool and just hanging out. The girls must've worn themselves out each day because Kate slept until 8:30 each morning and Mags slept until 9:00 and actually one morning until 10:00! We're home and getting back to normal. We have 2 weeks until Kate starts her new school so we're going to enjoy our last weeks playing and swimming.

Getting braver each day

Maggie was loving "playing" ball with Kamryn,
Jack, and Case - really she was just the stray
ball retriever!

just turned 1!) and Aunt Melissa
