A Busy Week

Last week was packed full of fun. Kate had Fairy Camp at her dance studio everyday from 10-1. She thought she was so big time because she got to take her lunch with her. And every afternoon, she came home with a grocery sack full of crafts that she had made. From what I could tell, they kept the girls very busy at camp. That said, we also had a week of great naps from Kate!:)

While Kate was at camp, Maggie and I got to enjoy some one-on-one time together which was fun because that rarely happens. A couple of the days we just ran errands, but we also managed to squeeze in some fun at the splash park and Chick-Fil-A with some friends. One of the best parts about just having Maggie alone is that she really got to show off her funny personality because she had my full attention. We spent alot of time just "talking" and I also had fun listening to her talk to "Baby Huggies" while I was driving. At one point Huggies must have not been obeying because I overheard her scolding Huggies and telling her "no ma'am Huggies!":)

On Wednesday night we met our friends the Schultheis family and the Cariker family in Bartlesville at the Kiddie Park. This visit was our best yet because all the kids were old enough to ride and each of them had a great time. It was a little on the hot side but still fun and hey... where can you go for 2 hours of non-stop entertainment and spend less than $10?!

As if we weren't exhausted enough by Saturday morning, we got up and enjoyed the Blue Bell Creamery's "Taste of Summer." The girls ate ice cream and popsicles to their hearts content and then bounced away in the bounce houses. And it was even more fun because the Schultheis family and Stanford family came to beat the heat too. The best part...after baths at home, we took the girls to Glammy and Papaw's for naps and to spend the night so we didn't even have to deal with the sugar rush!:)

Poor Kate, on Sunday night she said to me "What are we doing tomorrow?" Nothing! We have had a relaxing week this week. We've enjoyed sleeping in and going swimming. After last week, we needed it!

Father's Day

Sadly we don't have a picture of the girls with their daddy on Father's Day, but I think Ryan had a good day. Kate and I conspired together on Sunday morning to get Ryan a sausage biscuit from Braum's and a coffee and he was served breakfast in bed with a homemade Father's Day card. (Mags needed her beauty sleep!) After church, we ate at Ryan's restaurant of choice and then it was nap time for daddy and the girls. That evening, Ryan's mom made fried chicken for him and his dad (mostly his dad!) and we had fun playing for awhile.

Bible School

We had VBS at church last week but Kate refused to call it anything but Bible school! The girls both got to attend however the catch was that I had to volunteer each day as well. So a group of friends (both the mommies and kiddos are friends) got together and volunteered in the Elementary Crafts while the kids enjoyed a few hours of Bible school fun. Even though we were all completely wiped out by the last day on Thursday, everyone had fun playing and learning about Jesus.

Glammy and Papaw took Kate to her first circus last Sunday and she had a great time. From what she told me, she liked the elephants, dogs, and the lady that shot out of the cannon. Papaw was good to take pictures...enjoy!

Swim Lessons

Kate had swim lessons last week and we chose to go with Mr. Kem again this year because she learned so much last summer. These 5 days did not disappoint. She started by freshening up on her skills from last year and then moved onto bigger and better - learning the crawl stroke (freestyle) and the backstroke. And she could actually do it and do it well, although her left arm was a bit lazy at times! On the last 2 days he also did some "pool accident" drills with her - dumping her off a raft and putting it over her head for her to swim out from under and crawl up on and having her just swim with one arm floatie on in the event that one would fall off while swimming. While I would hate for her to really have to use these techniques, I am thrilled that she knows them and would hopefully use them in an emergency. It was a great swimming week!

Ice Cream Social

Kate and Caroline celebrated with a joint birthday party on Monday at Marble Slab with their friends. It was a super fun, super easy party. Marble Slab was so nice to let us sort of take over their store and we had ice cream, cupcakes, and lots of fun running up and down the Riverwalk. Everyone seemed to have a good time and the birthday girls did for sure so the party was a success!

Birthday Girl

This precious girl is 4 today! These last four years have blown by and it's bittersweet to see Kate getting so big and "grown up" on us.

Kate - we love you so much! You have brought us so much joy and we feel so blessed that God chose us to be your mommy and daddy! You are such a kind, compassionate, and loyal little girl. You also have a sassy and dramatic side too. Maybe that's a phase?! You are super observant and don't miss a thing - that's like your daddy! But mostly you are just happy and love to giggle, play dress up, and "hang out with mommy." (for now anyway!)

Happy birthday sweet girl! I hope this year is your best yet!
