Art, Nickelodeon, and Popsicles

What a random title...but those 3 words sum up our week. Our church hosted a Toddler and Me class on Tuesday and Maggie and I went. Mags had a ball making art, with lots of help from her mommy, but I think that she mostly just loved the one on one time - she doesn't get that very often. She was so proud of the bag that she made and carried around her "purse" proudly.
Making a bird's nest with a rice crispy treat,
pretzel sticks and yogurt blueberries...she ate
most of it!

Showing off their bags

On Thursday afternoon, Ryan and I took both girls to Nickelodeon's Storytime Live. Kate and Maggie were great and enjoyed the show. All of their favorite characters were there so that was even better.

All of our favorites: The Wonder Pets, The
Backyardigans, Dora, and Kai-lan

And to cap off the week, we had a swim date with the Carikers and the Stanfords on Saturday night and the kiddos enjoyed popsicles for dessert. What a great night!

I can't believe that Kate will be starting school in a month. Until then though, we going to continue to have a fun summer!

It's a boy!

Kate and Maggie are going to have a little brother! Can you imagine how much this poor baby boy is going to be mothered?! Ryan and I are excited... a little surprised to find out that we can actually make a boy but we're both looking forward to some boy fun. Kate, however, is less than thrilled. When I called her at Mimi and PopPop's to tell her that she was going to have a baby brother, she responded with a very hostile "why?" I know she thinks that she doesn't want him now but I can promise you that when he arrives, she'll be all over him!

Here are a few first pictures of Baby Boy Butler...and I'll spare you the "boy" picture but trust me, it's a boy!
He's waving at us!

4th of July Fun

We spent July 4th weekend at Mimi and PopPop's in Haslet. Their little town had a parade and a fireworks display on the 3rd. Kamryn, Kate, and Maggie (and mommy and PopPop) walked and/or rode in the parade after we had decorated our bike, scooter, and wagon. We all had such a fun time until Kate got tangled up in the wagon and fell...not so fun after that but luckily we were nearing the end! That evening we could see the fireworks from Mimi and PopPop's driveway and since Kate isn't a huge fan, that was plenty close. She spent the 30 minutes pretty much the exact same way she watched them last year, holding her hands over her ears. That funny girl...the next morning she couldn't quit talking about them and told us that she was "excited for the fireworks that night!" Whatever!

Right after the fall, running to daddy and Mimi!

A new and fun addition to Mimi and PopPop's house is their swimming pool. It was finished the day before we got there and the girls had a ball...and Lucy joined in on the fun. It was the first thing we talked about each morning and the last thing we talked about before going to bed. Needless to say, we were in our swimsuits alot!

Fearless!

A night swim in her diaper!

After Ryan and the dogs drove home on Monday and I flew home on Wednesday, the girls were lucky enough to get to stay and play for the weekend. From our phone conversations, they are having a blast swimming, playing with Kamryn and Elizabeth, and watching movies, oh and maybe eating some ice cream! And Ryan and I are enjoying a quiet house...until Sunday anyway!!
